I think that most of us, at one time or another, have lost an important document we were working on because we didn't save it to the computer periodically. I have and I learned my lesson a long time ago. I save constantly and have learned the easy shortcut, CTL+S (on a PC). It's become second nature. Every time I type a bit or make changes to a design I am working on, I hit CTL+S. This way, I can preserve what I've been working on and keep things right in my world.
There are other keyboard shortcuts that are important (CTL+C for Copy, CTL+V for Paste) and I use them regularly. It saves time - I don't have to grab the mouse, go to the Edit menu and use the drop downs to serve the same purpose.
But, there are no comfortable shortcuts for me when it comes to working with clients. As I mentioned in a previous Tuesday Tidbit, I rely heavily on Collaboration. Your opinion matters to me and I want to make sure that I hit all the right notes when it comes to matching my designs to the person they will eventually belong to when they are finished. I never use cookie cutter designs (unless, of course, I'm baking cookies. Now, I'm hungry!) There is no shortcut for getting to know someone. There is no shortcut for quality. If I don't get it right the first time, that's okay! Rest assured...I will get it. But not by cutting corners or by taking shortcuts.
Let's build a relationship and we'll go from there!
