Tuesday Tidbit #49: On WYSIWYG
WYSIWYG (pronounced "Whizzy-
I choose my clothing based on what I enjoy wearing, not for anyone else's taste or
style. I network because I genuinely enjoy the people I meet and I love the sharing
of information and services that takes place at networking functions. When I ask
people I meet to tell me about themselves, I truly want to know who they are. And,
when you see me post about Therapy Dog work or volunteering for the Katy Community
'Chip Clinic or helping to raise money for Special Pals as I recently did as co-
It wasn't always like this for me. There was a relationship I was in when I was in my early 20's that was unfortunate. I was young and he was not and in trying to make the relationship work, I forgot who I was. Everything, from my clothing to my mannerisms were what this other person wanted and not what I wanted. When the relationship inevitably ended and I was out clothes shopping with my mother, she asked me if I liked a shirt she was holding. I honestly didn't know and at that moment, I realized that I had lost 'me' in the process of trying to be the someone that somebody else wanted. It was a valuable lesson and one I vowed never to repeat.
So, now, I celebrate my uniqueness and encourage those around me to do the same!
Country singer, Brantley Gilbert said, "I take a lot of pride in being able to say that what you see is what you get." That's exactly how I feel on the subject.
